Minnesota Vikings cornerback Trae Waynes partnered with Chargers running back Melvin Gordon to host a dodgeball tournament in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

It is nice to see traditions continue, especially when they encourage fitness and can help to inspire fans. And that is exactly what Minnesota Vikings cornerback Trae Waynes and Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon have been doing in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

The two 26-year-old NFL players are both Kenosha natives who were drafted in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft. According to the Kenosha News, they have been returning to their hometown to hold tournaments.

In past years, there have been football camps, seven-on-seven football tournaments, autograph sessions and more. This year, the duo agreed to host a dodgeball tournament called the Dodgeball Night of Fun.

The tournament on Friday featured 30 teams going head-to-head in front of a crowd with proceeds going to the Mahone Physical Education Activity Fund and the Indian Trail track and field team.

A very special guest was on hand for the 2019 tournament. Two-sport athlete and former Nike spokesman Bo Jackson (the only individual to be an All-Star in both the NFL and MLB) was on hand at the event to add even more star power to the local game, which featured about 300 participants on teams like the Dad Bods which battled for dodgeball supremacy.

Both Gordon and Jackson were around to throw some dodgeballs around on Friday. Sadly, Trae Waynes was unable to attend the tourney but he still took part in arranging the tournament as well as sent autographed photos for those in attendance.

Still, it’s awesome to see Trae Waynes of the Minnesota Vikings working with another NFL star and a two-sport legend for a good cause in their home town. Hopefully, this is an event which will continue to be an annual tradition in Kenosha.
