Kirk Cousins is heavily criticized for his play with the Minnesota Vikings in 2018 but was recognized among his peers on NFL Network’s Top 100 of 2019.

During the 2018 NFL season, the Minnesota Vikings were very disappointing. An offense full of talented playmakers struggled to make plays and fans blamed quite a bit of that directly at quarterback Kirk Cousins.

There are some aspects of Cousins game which need to be addressed. His ball security was an issue at times with nine fumbles this year. Plus, he threw the second most pick-six interceptions on the season with three, behind only Arizona’s rookie quarterback Josh Rosen.

Despite that, the quarterback actually put up very solid numbers. Cousins passed for 4,298 yards with a career-high 30 touchdowns and ten interceptions during his first year in purple and gold despite being sacked 40 times.

While his level of play remains a hot topic of conversation among fans of the Minnesota Vikings, apparently his peers in the NFL think quite highly of “Captain Kirk” since has voted onto NFL Network’s Top 100 Players of 2019 list.

Cousins landed at 78 on the countdown, making him the second player from the Vikings to be revealed on the countdown. Of course, the other player announced so far was Harrison Smith, who surprisingly earned the number 83 spot.

The good news is that a strong campaign from Minnesota’s quarterback in 2018 could see him earn a little more respect from his peers and move up the list. However, there is plenty to argue about in terms of him even making the list at all this year.

light. Must Read. 5 Vikings with nothing to prove in 2019

Still, this should be considered quite an honor for Kirk Cousins. The fact that other players around the NFL respect the quarterback of the Minnesota Vikings so much is a great sign that they believe he can get things done on the football field. And, hopefully now that he has a little more support around him, he can show what he is truly capable of in 2019.
