Linval not 100 percent yet

On Friday, the Vikings revealed that five of their players were beginning training camp on either the PUP list (Brandon Zylstra, David Morgan, Mike Hughes) or the NFI list (Shamar Stephen, Tashawn Bower).

Minnesota starting defensive tackle Linval Joseph was not included among these injured players, but he hasn’t been very active during this year’s training camp so far. Joseph has been taking it easy during his first two days of camp as he recovers from a surgical procedure he had done during the offseason.

Mike Zimmer revealed on Saturday that his defensive tackle still hasn’t been cleared to do team drills yet in practice. It doesn’t seem too concerning right now, but it’s definitely something to keep an eye on.

Already with Joseph not practicing fully and Stephen out, the Vikings also saw defensive tackle Jalyn Holmes leave practice with a leg injury. Thanks to these three being out, Hercules Mata’afa got the opportunity to play on the interior with the first-team defense on Saturday.
