Zimmer not happy with the young receivers

Behind guys like Adam Thielen, Stefon Diggs, Chad Beebe, and Jordan Taylor on the depth chart, the Vikings have a lot of young receivers competing for one or two spots on the team’s 2019 roster.

So far, Minnesota head coach Mike Zimmer hasn’t been impressed from what he’s seen from some the team’s newest pass catchers including Dillon Mitchell, Davion Davis, and Olabisi Johnson. To be more specific, Zimmer said before Sunday’s practice that this specific group of receivers needs to, “get their rear end in gear.”

Even though Minnesota drafted Mitchell and Johnson in the seventh round this year, there is no guarantee that either one of them will be included on the team’s final roster.

With the Vikings’ new offensive scheme expected to include more packages with multiple tight ends, it would be surprising if the team kept more than five wide receivers on their roster for the regular season. So if some of these young guys want to remain with Minnesota in 2019, they need to take Zimmer’s words to heart and get back on track.
