Holder Watch 2019 continues on

After Vikings kicker Dan Bailey missed three of his seven field goal attempts on Friday, Saturday’s practice session saw receivers Adam Thielen and Chad Beebe taking turns practicing as holders. On Sunday, even more members of Minnesota’s roster got a chance to show their holding skills.

Quarterbacks Sean Mannion, Kyle Sloter, and Jake Browning all took turns holding on Sunday as did tight end Kyle Rudolph. Beebe and Thielen got in a few more holding reps during the practice session too.

In fact, Thielen was actually the holder for one of Bailey’s field goal attempts on Sunday. The kick didn’t end up being converted, but it was the only attempt out of six that Bailey missed all day.

Punter Matt Wile is still getting a bunch of holding reps as well during this year’s camp practices. But it’s clear that Minnesota is far from sold on Wile keeping the role for the regular season.
