With the New York Giants currently needing wide receiver help, perhaps the Minnesota Vikings could offer them the services of Laquon Treadwell.

During his tenure with the Minnesota Vikings, Laquon Treadwell has been given numerous chances to prove he was worth the first-round draft pick the team used on him in 2016.

However, Treadwell hasn’t been able to do much of anything with the opportunities he’s had in his three seasons with the Vikings. The 24-year-old wide receiver has only caught a total of 56 passes for 517 yards and one touchdown in his pro career.

As Minnesota prepares for the upcoming 2019 season, it doesn’t seem like Treadwell is really a part of their plans on offense. Chad Beebe and Jordan Taylor have been getting the majority of the reps as the Vikings’ third receiver during training camp so far and Treadwell has been working with the second-team offense.

Well, if Minnesota is pretty much done with trying to get any production out of their 2016 first-rounder, they might have an opportunity to move him elsewhere now.

Former Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur is currently the head coach of the New York Giants, who just so happen to be currently having some bad luck with their group of wide receivers. The Giants have already seen Sterling Shepard break his thumb, Corey Coleman tear his ACL, and Golden Tate get handed a four-game suspension since they began training camp.

With their receiver depth growing thinner as each day passes by, perhaps Shurmur and New York would be interested in acquiring Treadwell. Who knows, maybe a fresh start for the current Minnesota pass-catcher could be what he needs to finally be productive in the NFL.

Having worked with Shurmur in 2016 and 2017, Treadwell should already be familiar with the offense that the Giants are currently running. The current New York head coach even praised the Vikings receiver a few times during their time together in the Twin Cities.

For the Giants to acquire Treadwell in a trade, it probably wouldn’t cost them more than a sixth or seventh-round draft pick. So it doesn’t seem like a huge risk for New York to take if they are interested.

Even if Treadwell doesn’t end up getting traded to the Giants, it’s very possible that he still won’t be on the Vikings’ regular season roster. Based on what has already gone on during training camp, it’s pretty clear that Minnesota is ready to move on from the young receiver.
