Holmes back out on the field too
After injuring his leg on Saturday, defensive tackle Jalyn Holmes was a non-participant during Sunday’s practice. His injury must not be too severe as Holmes was seen back out on the field during Monday’s session.
With Linval Joseph and Shamar Stephen still not full-participants in the Vikings’ practices, guys like Holmes, Jaleel Johnson, Armon Watts, and Hercules Mata’afa are getting some valuable opportunities to work with the first and second-team defenses.
On Monday, Johnson was one of the players who stood out for Minnesota. Entering his third season with the Vikings, the young defensive tackle had some impressive reps during the team’s one-on-one drills with the defensive and offensive lines.
After he was selected by Minnesota in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Johnson hasn’t done a whole lot during his tenure with the team. This year really seems like his final opportunity to prove that he deserves a spot on the Vikings’ defense.
