Zimmer likes what he’s seen from O’Neill

Last season, Brian O’Neill wasn’t expected to see much action during his rookie campaign with the Vikings. But poor play from other players and injuries resulted in O’Neill actually starting in 11 games in his very first year with Minnesota.

Heading into 2019, the young tackle is expected to keep his role as a starter on the right side of the Vikings’ offensive line. So far during this year’s training camp, Minnesota head coach Mike Zimmer has liked what he’s seen out on the field from O’Neill.

Following Monday’s practice, Zimmer commented on how the young blocker has improved in the physical aspects of his game since his rookie season. The Vikings head coach mentioned that O’Neill has put on some extra weight since last year too.

After so much negativity coming from the play of Minnesota’s offensive line over the past few seasons, it’s nice to hear Zimmer actually talk in an optimistic tone about one his top blockers.

Hopefully, O’Neill and the rest of the Vikings’ line can go out this year and help people forget about some of the disastrous blocking the unit has displayed in the recent past.
