Tyler Conklin – TE

Tyler Conklin was a fifth-round pick of the Vikings a season ago. He made the final 53-man roster, but he only ended up catching five passes for 77 yards last year.

He did struggle with drops at times, but for a fifth-round pick to make the squad and actually produce is a feat that many NFL rookies are not able to accomplish during their first season in the league.

Minnesota’s drafting of Irv Smith Jr. this year could make things extra difficult for Conklin. The Vikings typically keep only three tight ends. Kyle Rudolph and Smith aren’t going anywhere and David Morgan is also likely safe.

Conklin will be hoping the team goes against the grain and keeps four tight ends for 2019, but that could be a pipe dream.

If he gets released, he could definitely get snapped up by another team this year. Conklin looked impressive during Minnesota’s offseason practices, making some nice grabs and he developed a good rapport with quarterback Kirk Cousins.

Teams could look at this guy as a pass-catching threat and a squad that is thin at tight end could sign him to their active roster with the hope that he can contribute right away.
