The greatest personal achievement an NFL player achieves is enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Three Minnesota Vikings may have it happen soon.

As was earlier reported, the Pro Football Hall of Fame will consider expanding their Class of 2020 to 20 individuals, and that means some previously overlooked individuals from all NFL teams, including the Minnesota Vikings, may finally be enshrined.

The question of which former Vikings legends would be most likely to get a gold jacket and a bronze bust is one that has to be asked, but recently the Pioneer Press shed a little light on what is happening behind the scenes.

In an article on their website, Chris Tomasson shared a discussion he had with Rick Gosselin, who is a senior selection committee member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and it sounds like three former Minnesota legends will get their merits weighed by the committee.

The names discussed in the piece are running back Chuck Foreman, defensive lineman Jim Marshall, and offensive lineman Ed White.

Of the three, there is a favorite emerging because of past discussions. But that doesn’t mean the other individuals should give up hope of one day being honored in Canton. Still, Tomasson shared that the former Purple People Eater seems to be the front-runner:

"“Gosselin believes Marshall has the best chance because he has been a Hall of Fame finalist, while Foreman and White never have.”"

Which of the three players is the most deserving of a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame is debatable. If you go by statistics, Foreman is the forerunner since he has multiple awards and accolades. Marshall has longevity, consistency, and toughness on his side. Meanwhile, White should be considered the dark horse choice, but is well-deserving of the honor as well.

It is something that would be a massive honor to any of the three, but Ed White had something interesting to say when asked what it would mean to him.

"“I would definitely be excited (to make it), but Jim Marshall in my mind should have been in there a long time ago,” he said. “I’m not sure I’d feel good about going in before or without Jim Marshall, but I’m hoping that Jim gets in and if things work out and Chuck and I can tag along.”"

If Marshall or one of the other candidates from the Minnesota Vikings are chosen for induction in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, this could be a very good class for fans of the purple and gold. In fact, there could be two former players from the franchise being honored if former offensive lineman Steve Hutchinson receives the honor as well.
