The Minnesota Vikings head coach recently spoke about how some of his greatest enjoyments in life have come from proving his doubters wrong.

After the Minnesota Vikings missed out on the playoffs last season, their bandwagon has become significantly less full this year. Some believe the Vikings can be competitive in 2019, but there aren’t very many who think they will end up finishing among the best teams in the NFL.

Some may assume that Minnesota has a problem with being people underestimating them for the upcoming season. But Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer is just going to use the team’s doubters as a way to motivate his guys even more for 2019.

Speaking of Zimmer, doubts about his future in Minnesota appear to be more prevalent than they ever have before. The head coach knows his job may be depending on the success of the Vikings this year, but he isn’t afraid of the challenge.

"“It doesn’t bother me. My whole life, I’ve been the underdog. I didn’t get a head coaching job until I was 59. I love being doubted. I love to prove people wrong. That’s the No. 1 thing for me, prove people wrong.”"

Zimmer and Minnesota will certainly get the chance to prove people wrong in 2019. Especially those who think the Vikings won’t finish any higher than third in the NFC North this season.

Also motivating Zimmer this year is the opportunity to be the first Minnesota team to ever win a Super Bowl.

"“Somebody is going to win a Super Bowl with Minnesota and I want it to be me.”"

When he makes statements like this, it’s not hard to understand why a number of Vikings players have said they would run through a wall for their current head coach. If Zimmer were actually able to help lead Minnesota to a Super Bowl victory in the near future, he would become an instant legend in the Twin Cities.

Some of the Vikings’ best seasons have come during years where not many believed they would be a contender. With the way things are already shaping up for 2019, will this be another season where Minnesota flies under the radar and emerges as one of the top teams in the NFL?
