Weatherly sits out for the day

There haven’t been too many injuries for the Vikings during this year’s training camp, but the team was without one of their top defensive reserves on Thursday.

Fourth-year defensive end Stephen Weatherly was a non-participant during Minnesota’s practice on Thursday. Weatherly suffered an undisclosed injury on Wednesday and apparently, it was severe enough to force him out of Thursday’s session.

In addition to Weatherly being out, Vikings defensive tackle Linval Joseph still has not been cleared to fully practice yet. Joseph was seen doing rehab work on the side, once again, on Thursday as the rest of his teammates took part in practice.

With Joseph and Shamar Stephen still out, Minnesota’s backup defensive tackles continued to get reps with the first team. Hercules Mata’afa and Jalyn Holmes both spent time alternating as the Vikings’ three-technique with the first defensive unit during Thursday’s practice.
