Vikings Training Camp 2019: Top 4 takeaways from Day 8

Bombs away
Pretty much as soon as the Vikings kicked off practice on Saturday night, the offense began to launch the football deep downfield.
Minnesota quarterback Kirk Cousins connected early on a pretty pass to receiver Adam Thielen that resulted in a gain of over 50 yards. Shortly after this, Cousins connected on another deep ball to Vikings receiver Stefon Diggs.
Minnesota’s starting quarterback wasn’t the only signal-caller launching passes downfield. Kyle Sloter, Sean Mannion, and Jake Browning all completed at least one throw of over 30 yards during Saturday’s practice.
Using the speed of their receivers definitely seems like something the Vikings want to utilize more in 2019.
Last season, Minnesota’s offense only ranked 20th in the NFL in pass completions of at least 20 yards. Throwing more frequently downfield certainly seems like it’s something that the Vikings’ new offensive staff is looking to do this year.
