Marshon Lattimore – CB
Marshon Lattimore is simply one of the best young corners in the NFL today. This guy is so good he can intercept passes with his butt. Seriously though, Lattimore is a shutdown corner who is also extremely strong against the run.
In his first two seasons, he has racked up 111 tackles, 30 pass breakups nine interceptions and five forced fumbles. He’s the absolute definition of a playmaker.
The Vikings were once seen as being extremely deep at cornerback. However, that depth has become really shallow in recent weeks.
Holton Hill got his suspension extended an additional four games, and Mike Hughes still isn’t close to seeing the field as he continues to recover from his torn ACL.
Suddenly, Minnesota’s fourth cornerback this season could end up being a free agent they just added in Bene Benwikere, a former member of the defunct AAF league, or a seventh-round rookie. That is a harrowing situation for a team that is ready to contend in 2019.
Lattimore would be a huge help to the Vikings this season. He’d likely take over Minnesota’s No. 2 cornerback job away from Trae Waynes, pushing him to nickel.
Not only would the addition of Lattimore improve the Vikings’ corner depth, but having him play opposite Xavier Rhodes would make it nearly impossible for opposing offenses to throw the ball with any sort of success.
This would allow Mike Zimmer to blitz the dickens out of opposing quarterbacks and Minnesota’s defense would end up being much more intimidating than it is now.
