Which NCAA Division I football program has basically served as a farm system for the Minnesota Vikings over the years?

Yes, the NFL Draft is months away and the 2019 season for the Minnesota Vikings hasn’t even fully begun yet.

But the Vikings rely heavily on the NCAA to provide them talent every year and with the NFL and college football seasons set to begin in the coming weeks, it’s time to look ahead a little bit.

Minnesota, like any other franchise in the league, drafts players from all over the college landscape. However, history suggests that the Vikings prefer guys from some schools more than others.

Minnesota has made hundreds of draft picks in their history as a franchise. Players come in from all over the world. Still, some college programs send more guys to the NFL than others. Seeing as the Vikings have selected talent from more schools than others, these NCAA schools serve as a faux farm system for Minnesota.

If Vikings fans need a college team to watch in 2019, this list should be a little push in the right direction. With the help of The Daily Norseman, I was able to find the college football programs with the highest amount of Vikings draft picks.

I found the total number of selections per school, as well as the total since 2000. The year 2000 holds no major significance other than a recent period of time.

If you are reading this and have no clue who or what to watch on Saturday afternoons this year, hopefully this gives you an idea. Obviously, this is not a guarantee, but rather a tendency.

So keep an eye on these three specific NCAA football programs this season because who knows, some of their studs may end up in purple and gold next spring.
