Offense struggles in situational drills

Ever since Mike Zimmer called out his defense last week, the unit has stepped up their play in every recent training camp practice. This was the case again on Tuesday.

The Vikings’ offense has been relatively successful during this year’s camp, but they struggled to move the ball during the team’s situational drills on Tuesday. Neither the first-team or the second-team offense could do much in these situations against Minnesota’s defense.

Is this a matter of the Vikings having a bad day on the offensive side of the ball or is the team’s defense making sure Zimmer doesn’t call them out again?

For Tuesday, it could be a mixture of both. Minnesota’s offense has been performing well for most of this year’s training camp and eventually the defense was going to catch on to some of the things they’ve been running.

Unlike the Vikings’ 2018 camp though, the offense has definitely had many more good days than bad this year.
