When the Minnesota Vikings released their first unofficial depth chart for the 2019 NFL season there were some surprises: some pleasant and some confusing.

The Minnesota Vikings are ramping up for their first preseason game on Friday and that means the team will need to make some tough decisions when it comes to who will be on the final roster and who will end up being released.

That picture got a little clearer when the first unofficial depth chart for the team was released on Monday, Aug. 5 and the placement of some of the players on the chart are a bit surprising, or questionable at best.

Strangely enough, the defensive side seems as though it is in order. Many returning starters are holding their jobs while their backups are placed in a logical order. However, that’s not really the case for the offense or the special teams.

Please remember that these are unofficial depth charts, so things will change heading into the season, but there are some things to be learned by looking at them.

Anyway, Let’s take a look at six places where the unofficial depth chart wasn’t exactly as predicted, including players from the team’s offense and special teams units!
