4. A first-round receiver falls

It is always disappointing when a first-round draft pick fails to reach their potential. That’s a polite way to describe how Laquon Treadwell has been for the Minnesota Vikings since the team used the number 23 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft to bring him in.

In the past, he seemed to be the team’s number three receiver almost by default. They wanted him to prove that he was worth the pick where he was selected and gave him many opportunities to show his progress and talents.

After his fifth-year option was declined this offseason, the Vikings seem to be taking a different approach. In fact, he is listed at third on the depth chart for his position, behind Adam Thielen and Chad Beebe.

Considering Stefon Diggs and Jordan Taylor should both be considered above him at wide receiver as well, this might put Treadwell in a spot where he’s fighting with guys like Jeff Badet, Brandon Zylstra, and others for a spot on the final 53.
