The battle at wide receiver

While a majority of the Vikings’ offensive roles are already defined, one area where they are not is at the wide receiver position, where Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen are waiting for someone to step up and take some attention away from them. So far, this battle in camp has looked more like a pillow fight.

In the Vikings first unofficial depth chart, Jordan Taylor and Chad Beebe seem to be the primary backups while the fifth roster spot seems to be wide open.

While his 2016 classmate Michael Thomas will likely be sitting this one out, Laquon Treadwell will be battling for a spot along with several other fringe receivers such as Brandon Zylstra, Dillon Mitchell, and Olabisi Johnson.

Even the deeper ranks at receiver should be fun to watch to see what Davion Davis has in store as well as deep burner Jeff Badet.

Much like the later weeks of the 2019 season, the Vikings will need someone to step up and make a statement to come away with the third receiver job. For this game in New Orleans, it’s a perfect opportunity to make Kevin Stefanski and Mike Zimmer take notice for a potential roster spot down the line.
