8 things to watch during the Vikings preseason game vs. the Saints

Mike Zimmer vs. Teddy Bridgewater
It’s Teddy Time once again, but it’s just not the way that many of us had expected it to go down. Nearly three years removed from a gruesome knee dislocation, Teddy Bridgewater is projected to take a majority of the snaps for the Saints on Friday night.
As the heir apparent to Drew Brees, Bridgewater will be looking to put some positive things together in the same fashion that he did with the New York Jets last preseason.
The interesting dynamic here is that Bridgewater will be going up against the head coach that drafted him in Mike Zimmer. Earlier this week, Zimmer said he wished Bridgewater nothing but the best and who could blame him?
Bridgewater represented the Vikings well during his four years with the team, but with the unknown nature of his knee, Minnesota couldn’t make a long-term commitment to keep him with their current Super Bowl window.
Now with the rival Saints, Zimmer will get a chance to show what his defense can do against a quarterback he knows very well. Even though the moment will give some Vikings fans a case of the “What ifs,” this could be a sneaky reason to tune into the game.
