Boone is going to make cuts difficult
During the 2018 preseason, running back Mike Boone took his opportunities and made the absolute best of them. Despite being an undrafted rookie, Boone beat the odds and earned his way onto the Vikings final roster with a solid performance in training camp and the preseason.
With him being listed as the fourth running back on Minnesota’s unofficial depth chart, Boone is being doubted again this year. But just like he did in 2018, the young running back is already making the most of his preseason reps.
On Friday night against the Saints, Boone only carried the ball four times. However, he finished with 70 rushing yards thanks to a long 64-yard scamper that ended with him walking into the end zone for a Vikings touchdown.
Before Minnesota’s first preseason matchup of the year, most assumed that the team would keep Dalvin Cook, Alexander Mattison, and Ameer Abdullah as the only running backs on their final 53-man roster. But after Boone’s performance against New Orleans, the Vikings may have to consider keeping four running backs this season.
