Offensive MVP – Honorable Mentions

Before revealing who the offensive MVP was from the Week 1 preseason game for the Minnesota Vikings, let’s take a peek at several other players who had great performances and earned the right to be in the discussion!

  • Garrett Bradbury, center – The rookie center looked like the real deal against some tough competition in New Orleans. There wasn’t a lot of pressure coming up the gut at Kirk Cousins and the running backs were getting to the line of scrimmage before contact on a regular basis.
  • Tyler Conklin, tight end – After last season, Conklin’s role in the offense was unclear. He wasn’t a major receiving threat and his blocking was decent, but not great. However, he hauled in both passes thrown his way, gaining 34 and 22 yards on those plays. Perhaps he really can contribute!
  • Mike Boone, running back – Being fourth on the Vikings depth chart has to be tough for Boone, especially after a solid season last year. He made the most of his time by running for 70 yards on 4 carries and scoring a touchdown. His vision on a 64-yard run showed he doesn’t need elite speed to get yards.
  • Kyle Sloter, quarterback – Sloter was beaten badly in camp by Mannion for the backup quarterback job but he came to play on Friday. He completed six of his seven passes for 62 yards and a nice touchdown. This is the player many Vikings fans want to be the backup, but he needs to be consistent and earn it.
