Minnesota Vikings Best and Worst: Preseason Week 1 vs. Saints
By Adam Carlson
The worst thing
Coming out of halftime, Mike Zimmer said the same thing many fans were likely thinking while watching the broadcast or listening on the radio: This is WAY too many penalty flags being thrown against the Minnesota Vikings.
Holding, pass interference, facemasks, and more kept the Vikings moving backward on the field. Every time it felt like the team got composed and were playing disciplined football, another yellow raindrop would come out of the pocket of the referee.
Minnesota had a disgusting 13 penalties accepted against them and more called on the field. Those 13 infractions came to a whopping 136 yards, which is totally unacceptable for any team, and even less acceptable for a team led by Zimmer.
Disciplined football will likely be a major topic of conversation when the Minnesota Vikings return to practice to get ready for Week 2 of the preseason, and nobody should want to be seen getting a flag when Zimmer reviews the tape.
