5 Vikings who increased their stock after the first preseason game
By Adam Patrick
Kyle Sloter – QB
Just as all Cris Carter did was catch touchdowns, all Kyle Sloter does during the preseason is make plays. Sloter has performed very well during the last two preseasons and he got off to a great start this year.
During the first offensive drive in which he was under center against the Saints, the young quarterback led the Vikings to a touchdown. It’s something Minnesota fans have become used to whenever Sloter steps on the field during the preseason.
In the matchup with New Orleans, he ended up completing six of his seven passes for 62 yards and one touchdown.
Sloter is apparently behind Sean Mannion in the battle to be Minnesota’s No. 2 quarterback this year. However, Mannion didn’t really perform any better than his competition against the Saints.
Time and time again, Sloter has proven that he can lead the third-team offense on successful scoring drives. In their next preseason game, the Vikings need to give him the chance to see if he can do the same with the second-team offense.
