5 things to watch during the Vikings preseason game vs. the Seahawks
By Chris Schad
What will happen in the secondary?
One of the strengths of the Vikings’ defense over the years has resembled a M*A*S*H unit over the first couple weeks of the season. With Mike Hughes still recovering from a multi-ligament knee injury, the Vikings are going to be desperate for depth behind the trio of Xavier Rhodes, Trae Waynes and Mackensie Alexander.
The Vikings already made one move to sign veteran Bene Benwikere. But with rookie Kris Boyd and not much else behind them, they may have no choice but to see what Holton Hill has in these three final weeks of the season.
Hill won’t be a part of the Vikings until Week 9 as he can not play or practice thanks to a pair of four-game suspensions. But that doesn’t mean that Zimmer and his staff don’t want to see what he has to offer in year two.
After not seeing the field much in the first week of training camp, Hill has started to see reps with the second-team defense and he will likely find his way onto the field against the Seahawks.
While the secondary may not be as wide open as some of the other positions on the team, Sunday is a great chance for Hill to show the Vikings that they should still have faith in him while others just want to get a chance on Minnesota’s final 53-man roster.
