Can the Vikings build off last week?

One year ago, Vikings fans were pretty satisfied with the effort that the team put forth in their preseason opener. After a sharp opening drive from Kirk Cousins, the Vikings were able to show their strengths and had a breakout performance from Roc Thomas in a preseason victory over the Denver Broncos.

The following week, the Vikings returned home to face the Jacksonville Jaguars and they looked like the team they would be for most of the 2018 season. In that game, Minnesota couldn’t protect Cousins and they drew seven penalties for 60 yards in a sloppy game for both teams.

That contest may have set the tone for the Vikings’ season as they never could seem to find their footing and the style of play that almost led them to the Super Bowl in 2017. While this game against Seattle isn’t the end-all, be-all to 2019, it would at least be nice to see Minnesota build off of what they did well against the Saints.

The key for the Vikings in the final three weeks is to keep getting better, but also stay healthy in the process. If they’re able to do that, Sunday’s game should be another successful week for the Vikings.
