Jazz Ferguson – WR

I was smitten with many a late-round receiver in last year’s Draft. Jazz Ferguson was one of those guys. He has great size standing 6-foot-5 and weighing in at 228 pounds. There were some concerns about this guy after transferring from LSU and then playing for small school Northwestern State, with little collegiate production. He went undrafted and ended up signing with the Seahawks.

He had a stellar debut last week. Ferguson hauled in four passes for 54 yards and a touchdown. He displayed good hands, and solid route running. The Seahawks had to have been excited about the performance of their young undrafted rookie.

Ferguson is currently buried at the bottom of the Seahawks depth chart. He probably won’t see the field until the fourth quarter. He’ll have Vikings like Bene Benwikre and Nate Meadors trying to cover him, so he’ll have a distinct height advantage. There could be a few jump balls coming his way, and Jazz should definitely win those.

As I stated in my opening, Mike Zimmer was brutally honest and said the last couple of receivers on the Vikings’ final depth chart may currently be on another team. If Ferguson has a solid showing against the Vikings, Rick Spielman and company should put a little star next to his name. No matter how good he does the remainder of the preseason, the task may be too tall for him to crack the Seahawks final 53-man roster.

Must Read. Will the Vikings offense be better or worse in 2019?. light

His height is something the Vikings receiving corps lacks, and if Ferguson can show he can produce at an NFL level even if it’s against lower-tiered competition, he could be worth bringing in.
