WR Chad Beebe

The Vikings probable third wide receiver was extremely quiet during the first game of the 2019 preseason. He didn’t have a catch and it’s hard to remember if he was even targeted. He is also the favorite to be the Vikings punt returner but was also very quiet in that aspect. He only had one punt return that he returned for zero yards. Overall, it was a very quiet night for Beebe.

This Sunday is a chance for Beebe to claim that third wide receiver spot for good. The Vikings first-team offense should be on the field for at least a quarter and there will be more opportunities for Beebe to see some targets come his way. He needs to make the most of those, and show off his solid route running and sticky mitts, and hopefully amass a respectable stat line.

It would also be reassuring for the Minnesota Vikings if Beebe gets a couple of live reps as a punt returner. Marcus Sherels was a top-end returner and it will definitely hurt not having him back there this season. Beebe needs all the reps he can get back there, and to see him wiggle his way through a scrum and pick up some positive return yardage would put a lot of fans minds at ease.
