RB Alexander Mattison

Alexander Mattison had a solid debut for the Minnesota Vikings last week. He got the start against the Saints and racked up 30 tough yards on the ground and caught a one-yard touchdown pass. He was as advertised and a lot of fans are excited about his potential as the change of pace back this year.

Mattison should see an equal-sized load this week. Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer did say that Dalvin Cook would play, but he’s probably only going to see a series at most. Mattison should get the majority of the groundwork in the first half and maybe even see a carry or two in the second half. The Seahawks defense isn’t what it was a few years ago but still is a talented unit, with some very good linebackers. It’ll be a tough test for the young back but one that’ll help get him ready for the regular season.

It would be nice to see Mattison bust off a long run so we can all get an idea of his top-end speed. Seeing him catch a few more passes would also be beneficial and maybe give the coaching staff the reassurance that this guy can handle the load if Dalvin Cook gets injured again this season.
