K/P Kaare Vedvik

All eyes will be on the newest Vikings acquisition this Sunday night at U.S. Bank Stadium. Those eyes will be watching to see what this guy actually is. Is he a punter? Is he a kicker? No one really seems to have a good answer to this so far, not even head coach Mike Zimmer.

Earlier in the week, Vedvik was seen doing mostly punting off on his own. Then later in the week, he was doing more kicking. He was hitting field goals consistently from 40 and even 50 yards out and the fans in attendance were going nuts. How the Vikings use him against the Seahawks will show their early thoughts on how he might fit in with the team this season. The Vikings did give up a fifth-round pick for him, so he’s going to be either the punter or the kicker if not both.

The Vikings surprisingly held on to both Dan Bailey and Matt Wile after acquiring Vedvik. That makes one believe we might be seeing a rotation this Sunday night. Will Vedvik rotate with both Wile and Bailey or just one of these guys? Also if Wile or Bailey struggle, will they immediately get the ax the next day?

There are so many questions surrounding this guy and how the Minnesota Vikings are ultimately going to use him. Maybe this Sunday we will start to get some answers.
