Zylstra improves his chances

After he didn’t even get a target during the Vikings’ preseason win over the New Orleans Saints last week, Brandon Zylstra appeared to possibly be slipping down the wide receiver depth chart.

But on Sunday, Zylstra was able to get himself back in contention for a regular season roster spot with a nice performance against the Seahawks.

During Minnesota’s second preseason matchup of 2019, he ended up hauling in a team-leading five passes for 37 yards and a touchdown. Most importantly, Zylstra didn’t drop any of his five targets against Seattle.

In addition to his own performance on Sunday, Zylstra’s competition didn’t really do too much to help their chance for a spot on the Vikings’ final roster this year. Fellow Minnesota receivers Bisi Johnson, Jordan Taylor, and Jeff Badet combined for just one catch and seven yards against the Seahawks.

Since he was able to make the Vikings’ final roster last season, Zylstra knows what it takes to earn a spot on this team. Will he continue to prove that he deserves to be a part of Minnesota’s final 53 during the team’s third preseason game next week?
