Stefon Diggs – WR

Stefon Diggs has had a pretty quiet preseason. He hasn’t caught a ball since early in the Vikings preseason opener against the New Orleans Saints and that one got called back because of a penalty.

It’s not that he needs a big preseason or anything, but the signs so far lean pretty heavy in Adam Thielen‘s favor to being Kirk Cousins go-to target this year.

It would be nice for Diggs to put a good reminder on tape that he’s here too and ready to have a huge season himself. It would also be nice to see him hone his solid rapport with Cousins in the new offense that Minnesota is installing.

Maybe the Vikings are purposely not throwing the ball Diggs way that much. He hasn’t played a full 16-game schedule since he’s entered the league and Minnesota could be keeping him out of harm’s way so he’s fully healthy to begin the regular season.

Another reason why Diggs hasn’t seen that many balls heading in his direction this preseason is just the lack of reps that the Vikings’ first-team offense has had. They have had maybe three series out on the field and there just isn’t time to get everyone the football.

Minnesota has also been pretty committed to the run game this year and they really seem to want that to get going which has caused them to not throw the ball as often as they did a season ago.

That being said, expect Diggs to haul in a few passes this Saturday and maybe even get one explosive play under his belt.
