More good stuff

There’s just something about him. I don’t know what it is…but when Kyle Sloter enters a game for the Minnesota Vikings there is a change in the energy of a football game and good things happen more often than not.

The argument to still have Sean Mannion be the team’s number two quarterback is getting harder to accept as Sloter continues to put forth great preseason performances. This time, he completed six of his seven pass attempts for 102 yards and a touchdown, earning a perfect passer rating of 158.3 for the day.

Here are some other good things to come out of the second preseason game for the Minnesota Vikings:

  • Great plays from Everson Griffen and Mackensie Alexander helped the Vikings get a three and out on Arizona to open the game. It’s easy to forget how athletic these guys are, but when they are also disciplined players, they can easily change the course of a game.
  • Odenigbo likely locked down a roster spot in this game. He kept disrupting the game and brought down another opposing quarterback. There is no way he misses the team’s final roster barring something big happening.
  • The Vikings have too much talent at running back. Mike Boone is looking amazing and Ameer Abdullah has been doing great work on special teams and showing off his speed. Don’t be surprised if these two force the Vikings to keep them both on the roster.
  • Jayron Kearse looks like a starter. He broke up two passes, nearly intercepting one of them and added two tackles, both of them solo.
  • It’s going to be tough to keep Bisi Johnson off this roster. He led the team in receiving yards by catching three passes for 52 yards and showcased some great potential for yards after the catch. Don’t be shocked if he’s on the 53!
