The worst thing

Can’t the Minnesota Vikings seriously find a kicker that starts out solid and can stay consistent? That seems like an impossible task for the team’s front office as every attempt so far in recent history has ended poorly.

Today was a big day for Kaare Vedvik, who handled all kicking duties for the Vikings. Instead, it found him missing both his field goal attempts on the day. While neither were chip shots (43 and 54 yards), the distance wasn’t an issue as he missed wide on both sides.

The good news is that he made both of his extra points, but that’s little to make up for the fifth-round draft pick that was used to acquire Vedvik from the Ravens and almost assured that Dan Bailey will keep his job as the team’s kicker.

On the flip side, Matt Wile has done little to prove he needed to be replaced as the team’s punter, but will likely be the odd man out because of the draft capital given to acquire the Vedvik. Why is special teams always a mess for the Vikings?
