Cook is ready to explode

He didn’t participate in the Vikings’ first two preseason games this year, but Dalvin Cook definitely made up for his absence on Saturday.

Any questions or doubts people had about Cook quickly vanished as soon as he broke free for an 85-yard touchdown run in the first quarter of Minnesota’s preseason matchup with the Cardinals.

That run was just one of his two carries in the game, but that’s all the Vikings needed to see from their top running back on Saturday. Now, Minnesota can sleep a little easier at night knowing that they will be opening the regular season with Cook starting in the offensive backfield.

Given his specific skill set, the young Vikings running back is a great fit for the offense’s new zone-blocking scheme that they have been installing all summer. Cook’s long run showed just how dangerous he can be in Minnesota’s new offense and the rest of the NFL should probably take notice.
