Boyd in danger of getting cut

Saturday’s matchup against the Cardinals was the first preseason action for Vikings rookie cornerback Kris Boyd. His inexperience certainly showed up as Boyd struggled during most of his time out on the field for Minnesota.

The Vikings rookie corner finished with five tackles on Saturday, but he failed to come up with at least one pass breakup. His tackles were also mostly the result of him having to bring down his coverage after he couldn’t prevent them from getting open.

After he didn’t get any time on the field in Minnesota’s first two preseason games, Boyd definitely didn’t do himself any favors with his performance on Saturday.

Currently, he’s fighting for a spot on the Vikings’ final roster with guys like Duke Thomas, Nate Meadors, and Bene Bewikere. Unless Boyd turns things around in Minnesota’s next exhibition game on Thursday, it’s hard to envision him being included among the team’s final 53 players this season.
