Offensive MVP – Kyle Sloter, quarterback

I don’t want to feed into the Kyle Sloter hype. I really don’t. The third-string quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings is the absolute fan favorite on the team these days, and when Kirk Cousins doesn’t look good, those voices get even louder.

This week, the Sloter praise is well-warranted. He completed six of his seven passes for 102 yards and a touchdown strike on the day. Plus, he led another drive which ended with a Mike Boone touchdown run.

His perfect passer rating of 158.3 is a nice crown for him in this game, but even without that rating and all the stats, there was something different about this game as soon as the quarterback stepped on the football field.

There is a unique energy to a team led by Kyle Sloter. Sure, it might only be preseason magic, but there is no denying that his gunslinging style and big moments are captivating and entertaining…but also effective.

Mike Zimmer has to be running out of excuses to keep him as the team’s QB3.
