Kurt Coleman – S

Kurt Coleman had a brief stint with the Vikings in 2014. The team agreed to terms with him that April and it was thought he’d likely make the roster as a backup to starter Jamarca Sanford and maybe even push him for the starting job opposite Harrison Smith.

So it was a bit surprising when Minnesota cut him later that August in favor of Mistral Raymond.

Many figured Coleman’s career was coming to an end, but the Vikings were soon to be the ones with the egg on their faces. He went on to play for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2014 and then he was signed by the Carolina Panthers during the following offseason.

Coleman played out of his mind in a Panthers uniform. In three seasons with the Carolina, Coleman accumulated 11 interceptions and over 260 tackles.

His performance with the Panthers landed him a big deal with the New Orleans Saints last year. Coleman’s play came back down to Earth during his lone season in the Big Easy and he now finds himself fighting for a spot on the Bills safety depth chart.

There seemed to be some bad blood between him and the Vikings when he was let go in 2014. So it will be interesting to see if he plays with a little extra fire on Thursday if he even plays at all.
