Will one of the young receivers step up?

Coming into the preseason, the Vikings were looking for anyone to step up to slide in on the depth chart behind Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs at receiver. Three games in, the only receiver to make an impact has been Olabisi Johnson while everyone else has just kind of been there for the Viking offense.

Just like the quarterback and running back battles, Thursday’s game represents a huge opportunity for a young player to make a mark. With the release of Jordan Taylor earlier this week, it opens the door for more reps for players such as Dillon Mitchell and Jeff Badet as well as expected contributors Chad Beebe and even Brandon Zylstra.

If a young receiver can make huge strides against Buffalo, it may deter the Vikings from looking for outside help at receiver when cuts are made this weekend. If not, there’s a good chance that the remainder of the Vikings’ depth chart at receiver may not currently be on the roster.
