Tight Ends (3)

  • Kyle Rudolph, Irv Smith Jr., Tyler Conklin

The tight end position had a little bit of drama throughout the offseason, but with Kyle Rudolph‘s extension in the books, there doesn’t seem to be much suspense here anymore.

With Rudolph’s spot on the team being cemented and Irv Smith Jr. being the flashy new rookie, there were not going to be many surprises here.

With David Morgan a non-participant in this year’s training camp or preseason due to injury, the Vikings will likely have him begin the season on the PUP list. Until Morgan can come back, Tyler Conklin will take the role as Minnesota’s third tight end in 2019.

With Conklin, Rudolph and Smith, the Vikings have several skill sets at the tight end position and they could utilize all three in Kevin Stefanski’s offense. Either way, Minnesota will have plenty of muscle to help out an offensive line that struggled mightily at times last season.
