5 Vikings players to watch in Week 1 against the Falcons

Britton Colquitt – P
Britton Colquitt will be fun to watch this Sunday because it’ll be the first time we get a look at him in purple.
Colquitt has a booming leg with a career average of 45.5 yards. He gets good hang time on his kicks and that’ll allow the coverage unit to get down the field and enclose the returner before he gets a chance to break one. He should be an improvement over both Karre Vedvik and Matt Wile.
Colquitt is also an experienced holder and that is something that Vikings fans will be watching for, especially if this week’s game comes down to a last-second field goal.
After letting Wile go, Minnesota hinted that his holding was to blame for a lot of the team’s kicking woes in training camp and the preseason. If that’s truly the case and Colquitt is an improvement, then the Vikings should be perfect on all of their field goal attempts this week.
Minnesota’s special teams unit, especially the kicking and punting portion of it, has been a drama-filled circus this preseason. If Colquitt not only boots the ball deep and accurately and also holds on field goal and extra-point attempts perfectly, the Vikings and their fans can finally relax when the team needs to kick or punt the football the remainder of the season.
