1. These two teams have so much history between them. What is it about games between the Vikings and Packers that make them so special?

I think that there are three aspects in particular that make this rivalry as intense as it is. One is the proximity of the two teams and the second is that these teams and the fans have been going at it since 1961 when the Vikings were introduced to the NFL. Although each team has had their moments along the way, overall this has been a very close series as well which is only going to add to the drama.

However, with all of that said, I really think the intensity kicked up a notch when Brett Favre joined Minnesota. As you all know, Favre is a legend in Green Bay but when he joined the Vikings and nearly took them to the Super Bowl, it was incredibly difficult to watch for us Packers fans. The last thing we ever wanted to see was Favre bring the Lombardi Trophy to Minnesota.

It’s always been a fierce matchup when these two teams get together but I think the Favre factor took it to a whole new level. Add in some fantastic moments, such as the Antonio Freeman catch in overtime or Randy Moss mooning the crowd at Lambeau Field and it all helped create the rivalry that we see today.
