7 takeaways from the Vikings’ loss to the Packers in Week 2

Beebe emerging as a good third option
For the past few seasons, the Vikings have been searching for a third receiver to perfectly compliment Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs in their offense. Well, they might have found one in second-year pass-catcher Chad Beebe.
Beebe only has two catches for 70 yards this season, but both have resulted in a first down for the Vikings. And his 61-yard catch-and-run on Sunday against the Packers resulted in Minnesota getting all the way down to the Green Bay 3-yard line.
The Vikings have cut down on their passing attempts by a lot this year which has meant fewer opportunities for guys lower on the depth chart like Beebe. However, the young receiver has already seemed to be a player that Minnesota quarterback Kirk Cousins has turned to when the team needs a crucial first down.
The Vikings’ don’t need Beebe to be a huge difference-maker in their passing offense this year. But if he can come in and help move the chains a few times a game, then that’s already way more than what Minnesota’s third receiver from a season ago was able to do.
