Corner depth will be needed in 2020

The 2020 offseason is going to be an important one for the Vikings as they could see a number of their current top defenders depart from the team.

Current Minnesota cornerbacks Mackensie Alexander and Trae Waynes are both scheduled to hit free agency next year and the Vikings probably aren’t going to have enough money to keep both or either of them around.

If Alexander and Waynes decide to sign with a different team in 2020, that leaves Minnesota with Xavier Rhodes, Mike Hughes, and Holton Hill as the top three corners on their roster for next season.

These three have the potential to be a talented trio for the Vikings, but there are also a number of factors that could prevent this from happening. Rhodes’ play could continue to regress, Hughes might not be the same after his ACL injury from 2018, and Hill’s reliability is always something to consider given the fact that he’s currently serving an eight-game suspension.

So in order to improve their corner depth for at least next season, trading for Jalen Ramsey is certainly something Minnesota should be considering.
