The Minnesota Vikings will look to get back in the win column as they host the Oakland Raiders in a Week 3 matchup on Sunday.
For the second straight season, the Minnesota Vikings will look to rebound from a disappointing effort at Lambeau Field as they head home to U.S. Bank Stadium, to square off against an inferior opponent.
While the Oakland Raiders may possess the same record as the Vikings (1-1), they don’t have a lot of the weapons Minnesota possesses on both sides of the ball, making this Week 3 matchup seem like a cakewalk.
However, the Vikings know about this scenario all too well. After an emotionally draining Week 2 tie in Green Bay last season, they came home to host a Buffalo Bills team they were supposed to destroy. Instead, the Bills jumped out to a 27-0 lead and Josh Allen leaped over Anthony Barr in a game that wound up helping cost the Vikings’ playoff aspirations.
With the Vikings preparing for their game on Sunday, the goal remains simple. The Vikings can not afford to slip into the same tailspin they did last season and while their loss in Green Bay involved some negative stuff, the positives (such as shutting the Packers out after falling behind 21-0) seem to suggest that this is a different team from a year ago.
Many picked this to be a win when the Vikings schedule was released in April, but this should still be an interesting game to watch and see where Minnesota’s 2019 season could wind up.
