PR Marcus Sherels

He’s baaack! Marcus Sherels has returned to the Vikings and the timing couldn’t be more perfect. Chad Beebe was very middle of the road when it came to returning punts. He showed little wiggle, and for a guy with such great hands, had issues fielding the punts that came his way. Beebe was hurt in last week’s game and will be out for a while, and that injury may be a blessing in disguise for the Vikings.

Sherels is an excellent return man. He knows when to fair catch a ball and when to try to make a play. He isn’t the fastest guy, but has great wiggle to him and can often make positive yards when it looks like he’s going to be planted for a loss. He is a major upgrade for the Vikings as the punt returner and every fan who bleeds purple is pumped to have him back.

Not only is Sherels an excellent return man but he’s a great gunner on special teams. Pairing him with Ameer Abdullah gives the Vikings two very good gunners and improves their punt game greatly.

The last positive to having Sherels back is that he can replace the young guys like Kris Boyd, Nate Meadors, and Mark Fields as the emergency corner. Now, let’s be fair, Sherels is a horrible cornerback, but he’s leaps and bounds better than these young guys who have looked completely lost every time they step on the field.

It’ll be fun for the Minnesota Vikings and their fans to have Marcus Sherels back on the field this week, and hopefully, he can bust a long one as a nice welcome back gift.
