5 takeaways from the Vikings Week 4 loss to the Bears

Defense needs to get off to better starts
For the second time in two road games this season, the Vikings’ defense let the opposing offense score a touchdown on their first drive of the contest.
In Week 2, Minnesota let the Packers march 75 yards down the field and find the end zone. And then on Sunday, the Vikings’ defense let the Bears’ offense drive 75 yards down the field and score a touchdown.
Of the nine games Minnesota has lost since 2018, seven of these losses have come in matchups where the Vikings let the opposing offense score a touchdown on their first drive of the contest.
Minnesota’s defense is usually able to recover after their mistakes to begin these specific games. But the early damage seems to just be too much for the Vikings to overcome.
For whatever reason, Minnesota’s defense has recently struggled to stop their opponents from finding the end zone early in their matchups. This is something that needs to be fixed because it is clearly making a negative impact on the Vikings’ chances of leaving the field with a win.
