The best thing

The Minnesota Vikings were dominated offensively and defensively in the game. However, the purple and gold did fare quite well on special teams, a spot where very few mistakes were made and the team showed efficiency.

The highlight of special teams in Week 4 was punter Britton Colquitt, who had five punts on the day for 235 yards with three of them landing inside the Chicago 20. An impressive boom that went 59 yards before being downed was big in giving good field position.

Kicker Dan Bailey didn’t attempt a simple field goal or extra point in the game, but he did attempt an onside kick with some great spin that gave Minnesota a chance to get the ball back late in the fourth quarter.

Otherwise, the Vikings limited return yardage on kickoffs and punts well. The Bears didn’t return a single kickoff of Minnesota’s and only 16 yards were had for returns on punts. On a day where wins were rare, special teams did their part to keep the Vikings in the game.
