Trading Stefon Diggs would be tremendously stupid

Vikings have absolutely no depth at wide receiver

One of the biggest issues that attributed to the downfall of the Minnesota Vikings offense last season was the lack of depth at wide receiver. Outside of Diggs and Thielen, nobody on the roster stepped up despite opposing defenses daring them to make a play.

The Vikings should have addressed this over the offseason, but most of their plans went by the wayside as they’ve been forced to carry four wide receivers since they broke training camp. Things have gotten so bad, they even had to bring back failed first-rounder Laquon Treadwell just for an extra body on the team.

To put things mildly, this wide receiver group as a whole is pretty thin. But what would that look like if the Vikings got rid of Diggs?

Adam Thielen would still be wearing purple, but outside of him, it would be an invitation to throw every available defender in his direction. Chad Beebe can’t stay healthy. Bisi Johnson could be good, but he’s not at the same level as Diggs. As we clarified, Laquon Treadwell isn’t good.

Taking Diggs away from Cousins would also be a disaster. Cousins is the quarterback that needs everything to be on schedule and if you take an elite weapon away from him, chances are the Vikings offense will be an even bigger disaster.
