After a week of drama mostly centered around his absence from the team, the Minnesota Vikings wide receiver acted like everything is fine now after Sunday’s win.

Following a game that saw him haul in three passes for 44 yards, Minnesota Vikings star receiver Stefon Diggs was met with a swarm of reporters inside the visiting locker room at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

Diggs gave a bunch of safe, PR-friendly answers to most of his questions, complementing the team’s overall performance and brushing off the fact that he only got four targets. But after he was fined over $200,000 for his antics last week, who can really blame the receiver for sticking with the typical post-game cliches?

Eventually, Diggs was asked straight-up if he still wants to be with the Vikings, to which the receiver responded with a, “yeah, I want to be in Minnesota,” and a perfectly timed wink into the camera.

Now, the national media is likely going to overreact to Diggs’ wink after his response, but this is something that he’s actually done often when meeting with the press during his time with the Vikings.

So everything is good now, right? Diggs is back to normal and he’s said over and over again that he’s a team-first guy during all of this so we should all believe him?

Not quite.

First off, Diggs knew that the cameras were going to be focused on him all day long. So he was going to make it seem like everything is fine and whatever happened a few days ago was a one-time thing even if none of this was really how he truly felt.

Truthfully, last week wasn’t the first time he’s skipped out on a meeting this season without letting the team know according to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero.

Knowing this, it’s incredibly hard to believe Diggs when he continues to emphasize that he’s a team-first kind of guy. If this were actually the case, then he wouldn’t have put the Vikings’ season in jeopardy by creating a bunch of unnecessary drama with his most recent unexpected absences.

But oh wait, that’s right, he was at home because he had a “cold”. The guy who’s in his fifth year with Minnesota just conveniently forgot to let his team know that he needed to rest at home for a few days because he was sick.

Sure buddy.

The Vikings’ obviously believed his story too, which is why they slapped him with a minor $200,000 fine. Diggs should feel incredibly lucky that Minnesota didn’t void the remaining guarantees in his contract worth more $35 million, because they likely could have done this due to his actions last week.

The Vikings have reportedly told everyone around the league that they are not interested in trading their talented receiver this season. It’s certainly possible that Minnesota could decide to deal him during the upcoming offseason, but him going anywhere in 2019 doesn’t seem likely at this point.

So for the rest of the year, Diggs will probably just continue to act like everything is going great and he couldn’t be happier with his role on the team.

When the real truth is that he hasn’t been happy with the Vikings for a while now and one win isn’t just going to erase all of the feelings he’s built up over the past few months.
